Wilbur L. Shingledecker
Wilbur L. Shingledecker, age 73, of Marcellus, MI went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, June 11, 2015 at Rose Arbor Hospice.
He was born April 16, 1942 in Three Rivers, MI, the son of Harold and Florence (Burch) Shingledecker. Wilbur graduated from Marcellus High School in 1960. He went to work in August of that year and worked all of his life, retiring in March of 2007. At his first job he met the love of his life Gladys Hard, they were married April 26, 1963 in the Constantine Methodist Church. They spent 49 years together before her passing on November 1, 2012. He missed her dearly. Wilbur loved to travel and he and Gladys traveled extensively in their younger years. Wilbur loved the outdoors and the animal wildlife. He enjoyed photography and he loved camping and spending all the time he could in the Upper Peninsula. One of his favorite pastimes was watching the freighters sail past his campsite. He also enjoyed going to the casino with Gladys. He and Gladys met many friends while camping over the years. Wilbur loved all his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife, aunts, uncles and cousins. Surviving is one brother, Charles (Sharron) Shingledecker of Marcellus; one sister, Linda (Ken) Foust of Centreville, MI; several nieces, nephews and an aunt..
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 P.M and 6 to 8 P.M. Monday, June 15, 2015 in the Mater-Ralston Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, June 16, 2015 in the funeral home. Burial will follow at Marcellus Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association, National Kidney Foundation or the West Michigan Cancer Center.
