Wilbur Courter

WILBUR EDWARD COURTER Wilbur Edward Courter, 83 years old, of Comstock, Michigan, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at his home in the care of his loving family. Wilbur, known well by many as Bill, was passionate and compassionate in his ministry to people of all races, creeds, color and orientation. He and his loving wife, Charlotte, were founders of the Comstock Community Center (formerly known as the Fish) and he counseled with many men and women to help them heal emotional wounds. He was the Methodist Minister of Comstock for many years. In his free time he loved fishing on Lake Esnagami, Canada, spending time with family and friends at his cabin in Baldwin, Michigan and playing cards with his buddies. Bill was extremely loving of his wife of 60 years, Charlotte and proud of his three daughters, Joyce Long and her husband Robin, of Portland, Oregon, Jackie Courter of Gobles, Michigan, and Annette Fortino of Grand Ledge, Michigan. He is also survived by his 2 grand daughters, 3 grandsons, 2 great grandsons and brother-in-law, Eugene Dalebout of Grand Ledge, Michigan. He may have been short in stature, but to many he was larger than life! Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some people move our souls to dance then awaken us to a new understanding with the passing whisper of their wisdom. Some people make the sky more beautiful to gaze upon. They stay in our lives for a while, leave footprints in our hearts, and we are never, ever the same. Long Life! Honey in the Heart! No Fear! -author unknown There will be a Visitation from 2-4 p.m. with a Memorial Service Immediately Following, On Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the Milwood United Methodist Church 3919 Portage Street, Kalamazoo, MI. 49001, Officiated by Pastor David A. Newhouse.
