William James Hill

Parchment, MI - William "Skip" Hill, 82, died Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at Sue's Loving Care Adult Care Facility in Parchment due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. Skip was preceded in death by both of his parents and his brother Robert Hill. He leaves his two sisters Jackie Roberts and Beverly Gable both of Kalamazoo; his daughter Mary Gardner from Tennessee; his daughter Pati Ruggio from Paw Paw, MI; his daughter Jeanine Roberts: his daughter Brenda Councell and his son Michael Hill all from Kalamazoo; several grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and his close friend and caretaker Dolores Linstead. Born and raised in Kalamazoo, MI, the son of William and Ruth (Pountain) Hill, he was a lifelong resident of Kalamazoo. In his early years, Skip worked for Gibson Guitar and Miller Lumber co. Skip worked for many years in the building industry, quoting and selling supplies to local builders. He retired from Hamilton Farm Bureau in Otsego, MI. Skip loved the outdoors. He liked a good round of golf and time spent on a lake fishing, but after experiencing a very debilitating stroke in 2005, he was not able to participate in the things he loved to do. Skip's health has been poor at best for several years, after suffering several smaller strokes and finally being diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2015. In these last several years, Skip was cared for by his dear friend Dolores Linstead, who was with him when he passed away early Tuesday morning. A small funeral service will be as held at Riverside Cemetery with a private burial for family and close friends.
